So.. Yet Again I Fail.

Yet again, I have forgotten to post my Mid-Week Hexday Update on Wednesday, prompting me to change the event to a more manageable Weekly Hexday Update. Turns out that Wednesday is always too busy and frantic, and I highly doubt anyone really cares. I sure don't.

But still, here it is!

My average color for this
week! (I actually got to name
the color!)

three weeks, starting with the oldest

Inspiration Source - Music Idols

Here is one of my new palettes - I made it based off of some of my musician idols. Out of all of the palettes I have ever made, this is one I feel like I have a strong connection to. I decided to post it on here in hopes that others will feel a connection to it as well.

Mid-Week Hexday Update II

Okay, so I kinda failed. I'm posting my traditional Wednesday post on Friday, but hey, at least it's Thursday's average color from my Hexday.

It turns out my average color for this week (+ one day) was already created on Colourlovers, and named "Seaweed wrap" by the user alpen.

Last week's average color (left) and
this week's average color (right)

And last but not least, I finally have a follower! You're awesome The Happy Girl!

Mid-Week Hexday Update

Okay, so every Wednesday, I will post my average color from Hexday so I can track how it changes over time. For convenience, I will find the hex value on ColourLovers so why not just go ahead and make a weekly palette too? ;)

My average Hexday color for this week!
Turns out that I got to name it!

Inspiration Source - April Rainbows!

My latest multi-blend inspired by the new season and the beautiful weather it brought along with it!

Inspiration Source - Jane Eyre

I don't know what it is, but something about the new release Jane Eyre (much like The King's Speech) inspired me with the beautiful use of colors in the film. Based on the literary masterpiece by Charlotte Bronte, the film used a beautiful balance of muted tones and delicate pastels to depict the hardship-filled and romantic life of the title character.

You Are A Tourist - Live!

Tune in on April 5th, 2011 at 7 PM EST to see a live, one-take music video for Death Cab for Cutie's latest song, You Are A Tourist. They are one of my favorite bands, and an inspiration source for many of my Colourlover creations.

Hiatuses, Multi-Blends + Hexes

Hello my (at the moment non-existent) lovelies! My hiatus is finally over! After a whirl-wind spring break and an impressive amount of school work after the break, I can finally find time in my daily life to keep up with this blog. Yippee! So, let's jump in!

Today, I discovered and signed up for the website hexday. Hexday is a website where you choose one color a day based on your mood, and it documents what colors you pick over time. Here's my first pick!

My pick for a day of golf, wind and springtime weather!

Another exciting discovery of mine in the recent past has been the discovery of the barcode generator at Codename: "Cuttlefish". You can set the settings to any colourlover's palettes, and you can adjust the number of palettes featured in the barcode multi-blend along with the capability to search keywords. Using this, I have created three (3) multi-blends so far.

A Day In The Life

This (↑) is a multi-blend of the four palettes of mine that make up "A Day In The Life". Inspired by the song of the same name by the Beatles, "A Day In The Life" uses the lyrics from the song to make up the colors by color name. Below, you can see the selected lines of the song that were used as the inspiration with the color names in bold.

"I read the news today oh boy
About a lucky man who made the grade
And though the news was rather sad
Well I just had to laugh
I saw the photograph
He blew his mind out in a car
He didn't notice that the lights had changed
A crowd of people stood and stared
They'd seen his face before
Nobody was really sure if he was from the House of Lords.
I saw a film today oh boy
The English Army had just won the war
A crowd of people turned away
but I just had to look
Having read the book
I'd love to turn you on"

~A Day In The Life by The Beatles

This (↑) is a multi-blend of the eleven palettes of mine that make up my Death Cab For Cutie multi-blend. It is inspired by the eleven tracks on my favorite album of all time, Plans, which was recorded in 2005. Each palette in the multi-blend represents a track, and it follows the album in order from left to right.

Vampire Weekend : Contra
